How dentists are ordered on Best.Dentist

Best.Dentist is a directory. Listings are ordered by a published method, the same for every practice, in every city:

1. Verified licence

Every listed practice is matched to a dentist whose licence we have checked against their state dental board's public records. A practice whose responsible dentist's licence cannot be verified as active is not listed. Licence verification is a record check — it is not a judgement about a dentist's skill, and we do not describe it as one.

2. Patient reviews on this site

Reviews here are written by patients on Best.Dentist and moderated under our Review Policy. A practice's position reflects its average rating together with how many reviews it is based on, so a single review counts for less than a consistent record. We do not import ratings from other sites.

3. Fee transparency

Practices that publish their fees are ordered ahead of otherwise-equal practices that don't. Every fee shown is the practice's own published fee, with the source and the date we captured it. Fees can change — confirm yours with the practice before treatment.

4. Availability information

Practices that tell us (and keep current) whether they are accepting new patients are ordered ahead of otherwise-equal practices with no availability information.

What payment does — and doesn't do

Practices can pay for two things: a Featured placement, which is always labelled Sponsored and appears in clearly marked sponsored positions, and enquiry handling (in some states, a flat fee when an enquiry is delivered). Payment never changes the order of ordinary listings, never changes a rating, and never removes a review. A practice that pays nothing is ordered by exactly the same method as one that pays.

What the name means

"Best.Dentist" is our brand name — the name of this directory. It is not a claim that any listed dentist is better than any other, and we never rank or describe a practice that way. See About the name.
